PLS Logistics Services manages the coordination of truck, rail, ocean, and air transportation. They needed a user-friendly, web-based transportation management system to make freight management consistent, well-organized, transparent, and efficient for customers. So they hired contractors to design and build this system internally.
Initially PLS contracted me for one week to fill in while an established UX design contractor was on vacation. The company was so happy with my work and how I spoke up to champion good design and brainstorm solutions that they created a new position for me. I was responsible for building the home page dashboard from scratch, analyzing the entire system for brand consistency, and collaborating with and mentoring the other two contracted designers.
The final automated tool allowed the PLS team to manage shipments while providing the customer complete visibility into their supply chain, operational consistency, and detailed reporting.
